We stayed on the highest guest floor of the world's second tallest skyscraper. The Park Hyatt Kuala Lumpur sits inside Merdeka 118, the tallest building in all of Southeast Asia, and it is the tallest Park Hyatt property anywhere in the world. We booked a Park Suite with 32,000 World of Hyatt points, got upgraded to the Park Deluxe Suite on the 112th floor, and this is our honest take on the room, the amenities, the Cacao Mixology bar, and breakfast.

How the Hotel Is Laid Out
Merdeka 118 is named for its 118 floors, and the Park Hyatt occupies a serious chunk of it. Here is the quick breakdown of where everything lives:
- Floor 75: Main hotel reception, restaurants, and bars
- Floor 98: Executive salons, a dedicated event venue floor
- Floor 99: Spa, swimming pool, and fitness center
- Floors 100 to 112: Guest rooms
- Floor 114: The Sky Rooms, an exclusive gallery-like event space

Overview of Our Stay
We stayed one night in May 2026 on the 112th floor, the highest floor available for guest rooms. We booked using 32,000 World of Hyatt points. We originally reserved a Park Suite, but got upgraded to the larger Park Deluxe Suite with even better views. That room would have run close to $1,000 USD a night in cash at the time, so the points value here was genuinely incredible. This was our first time staying at a Park Hyatt property, and we were very excited.

Here is something we really appreciated. Since it was my birthday month, the front desk surprised us with a complimentary breakfast. For context, I am only a Discoverist, the entry-level World of Hyatt status, so this was completely unexpected. It was just a genuinely kind gesture, and honestly it was not even a one-time thing; we got the same warm treatment over at the Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur during the same trip. The hospitality in Malaysia is something else.
Location
Quick note on location. It is not the most central spot for getting around the city, so you will want to use Grab or a taxi to reach most of KL's popular areas. That said, the hotel is directly connected to the Merdeka MRT station, so public transport is an option too. If you like exploring on foot, it is actually pretty close to Chinatown and Petaling Street, though the walk is not super pedestrian friendly, so Grab is usually the easier call.

One thing to know: the mall downstairs is still being built and is expected to open around August or September of 2026. Once that mall is done, you will have a lot more right at your doorstep. For now, it is a 15-minute Grab to Pavilion or other central areas.
Checking In
We arrived around noon, and the front desk let us know our room was still being prepared and would be ready in about 30 minutes. Rather than have us just sit and wait, a team member named Lindsay kindly offered a full tour of the property. She walked us through the restaurants and facilities and wrapped it up by showing us to our room personally.

Room Tour: Park Deluxe Suite (112th Floor)
This is a suite, so it is extra big, and the 112th floor views are unreal. Here is how it broke down.

Entrance and dining/work area: A nice lamp greets you at the entrance with a bench to sit and change your shoes. You control temperature, fan speed, lighting brightness, and do-not-disturb right from the panel; 16 Celsius is the lowest it goes. The workstation has a telephone, an international outlet, USB-C and USB-A, in-room dining menus, and a really nice tea set if you want to brew your own. On the table, they had prepared a piece of chocolate for me that honestly looked like leather at first. A nice touch, considering the milk chocolate in the minibar runs 24 ringgit.

Birthday surprise: Because I was traveling for my birthday, the hotel set up a handwritten letter, a cake, and some fruit including longan. If you have never tried longan, you should.

Minibar: There are snacks you can purchase, a kettle if you need it for cup noodles (the noodles themselves are not included), a Nespresso machine, teacups and tea, and a refrigerator. The pricing is on the high side; a Coca-Cola is 22 ringgit, roughly $5 USD. The water, though, is unlimited and restocked, so you can always request more, and the milk is complimentary for your coffee.

Powder room: A separate powder room with a toilet that opens to greet you, a bidet, a sink, and Le Labo soap.
Walk-in closet: This is a girl's dream closet (Vincent says it is a guy's dream too). There is a deep orange, Hermès-vibe ottoman, and the team even decorated "Happy Birthday" on the mirror. There is a luggage area, a shoe section with a shoe service option, a laundry bag for the laundry service, a safe, and a clever three-panel mirror you can angle to see your full self from every side. There is also an extra luggage rack if you need it.

Bathroom: The shower impressed me a lot; it is the biggest waterfall shower I have ever experienced, with a handheld as well and strong water pressure. The shampoo, conditioner, and body wash are all the same branded set, and one wall has a beautiful gold-toned tile texture.

The his and hers vanity area has a body lotion (note: they mention you have to pay 200 ringgit if you take it home), a clock, a lit mirror with its own light control, a zoom-in mirror, a real orchid, a scale, and a drawer with a Dyson hair dryer, dental kit, shaving kit, shower cap, and comb. The toilet is a Toto, and the bathrobes are nice and thick.
The tub: The bathtub is deep and big enough for two, with a handheld and a direct view of the Twin Towers and the TRX tower (the one people call the pineapple building). For bath amenities, there is a shower steamer you place in the shower to release a relaxing aroma, plus bath salt and a loofah.

Bedroom: A sliding door connects the bathroom to the master bedroom for privacy. There is a great ambient lamp, a roughly 70-inch TV, and a one-king bed (firm on the mattress, very soft sheets, soft pillows). Each side has USB-C, USB-A, and an international outlet, plus light controls, a phone charger, and a speaker. One side also controls the sheer and blackout curtains. There is a complimentary service menu where you can request things like deodorant, pocket doors for extra privacy, and a sweet detail: a traditional basket book from North Borneo, which is meaningful since Vincent is from Sarawak.
Bedroom and views from the suite

Living room: Connected to the bedroom, the living room has a marble-look table, another large TV with an extra speaker, a super big couch, and a window seat mat where you can sit or lie down to take in the view. There is birthday art and a balloon, and a hallway with a mini lamp and an extra vanity where you can sit and do your makeup.

The view: This is the part that sells the whole stay. From the 112th floor you look straight out at the Petronas Twin Towers, the KL Tower, and the TRX tower.

Extra suite amenities: Because we were in a suite, they also provided extras on request like a yoga mat, weights, a hair curler, and a steam iron. We are not sure every room category gets these, but it was a nice touch.

Turndown Service
We came back to a turndown service: the lights were dimmed, our shoes were organized, and a bottle of water was set by the bed. It was a subtle touch rather than a dramatic transformation, but a nice end to the evening.
Fitness Center, Spa Pool & Locker Rooms
The fitness center and pool are on floor 99, and the views from up here are part of the experience.

The locker rooms are well stocked, with a dry sauna, a jacuzzi, lounging chairs, Dyson hair dryers, and an amenity kit with comb and essentials. One note: the steam sauna was closed for maintenance during our visit.

Merdeka Grill
Merdeka Grill is the hotel's signature restaurant on the 75th floor, a modern grill concept centered on premium meats, sustainable seafood, and locally sourced produce. We personally did not dine here since we were out exploring KL and eating around the city, but it is a solid option for guests who want to stay and dine on property.

Cacao Mixology & Chocolate Bar
This was one of the most fun parts of the stay. The Cacao Mixology and Chocolate bar pairs cocktails and mocktails with a chocolate experience, and the team was incredibly warm. After they offered to take a photo for us and learned it was my birthday, they brought out a complimentary mocktail paired with hazelnut chocolate, completely on the house, even though I am only a Discoverist.

We tried the Asam Boi drink, which is sour at first but does not linger, plus a cacao coffee martini that was excellent. The complimentary mocktail was a drier, more carbonated pour that paired beautifully with the sweet hazelnut chocolate.

The highlight was the chocolate carving experience, where you craft from a block of cacao and taste-test along the way. We tried the pistachio chocolate (with a touch of caramelized salt), a Ferrero Rocher-style one, and a vanilla white chocolate made with cacao butter instead of cacao solids, so the texture is milkier, creamier, and buttery with a chocolate ganache center. The pistachio was the favorite.

Breakfast at Park Lounge
Breakfast (complimentary for us, thanks to the birthday gesture) is served at Park Lounge with both an open buffet and an Γ la carte menu. The Γ la carte selection is wide, covering several different country cuisines, and honestly that is where the kitchen shines, so be sure to order from it.

The standout was the kaya toast. I have never seen kaya toast plated like this; it comes with a whipped butter that makes it taste different, not overly sweet, and genuinely delicious whether you eat it with or without the egg. The dim sum was excellent too: the shrimp dumpling was full of shrimp and the sticky one was great as well. There is also a beautiful pandan coconut latte with toasty coconut on top.

The buffet does not have an overwhelming number of options, but it covers everything you might be looking for, including freshly baked breads, croissants, a chicken dish, fruit danishes, and fresh coconuts.

Final Verdict
Overall, we had a great experience at the Park Hyatt Kuala Lumpur. The service was extremely good; every staff member was friendly, and they went out of their way once they learned it was my birthday, all while I am only a Discoverist. The suite was amazing and extra spacious, I loved the bed (firm mattress, very soft sheets, soft pillows, though Vincent prefers a firmer pillow), and the breakfast Γ la carte menu was excellent. The Cacao bar was a genuinely fun, unexpected highlight.
The one real downside is the location. It is not central, so right now you are taking a Grab to reach most areas, though it is walkable to Petaling Street and Chinatown. Once the mall downstairs opens in late 2026, that changes a lot.
We really loved this property and want to come back. If you are planning a Kuala Lumpur trip, we also stayed at the Four Seasons Kuala Lumpur and the EQ Hotel Kuala Lumpur, and we have a St. Regis Kuala Lumpur review coming soon too.
