Malaysian & Korean Food in New York!

Malaysian & Korean Food in New York!

We recently took a quick trip to New York City with one goal in mind: eat our way through some of the best Malaysian and Korean spots the city has to offer.

For our stay, we checked into Moxy Lower East Side for two nights using Amex’s The Hotel Collection. (Stay tuned—we’ll be sharing a full review of the hotel soon!)

Our food lineup didn’t disappoint:

  • 🍛 Nyonya – A cozy, no-frills Malaysian spot where the flavors reminded us of home. The roti and curry were standouts.

  • Kopitiam – A modern take on Malaysian street food and breakfast classics. Don’t skip the nasi lemak! Love the vibe and kaya toast was great

  • 🥓 Ling Kee Beef Jerky – A Chinatown gem—freshly grilled jerky with addictive smoky-sweet flavor. I have never seen this in other states, so if you visit here, I would recommend try this place! Authentic and tasty.

  • 🍲 Rasa – Another solid Malaysian option with comforting dishes and a relaxed vibe. Highly recommend to try Sarawak Laksa since it is very hard to find this dish in USA

  • 🍱 Woorijip – A quick, casual Korean spot perfect for grabbing packed lunchboxes or kimbap to-go. It’s nice to experience but it is a market food so dish may not be warm. If you are visiting NY to explore, I would recommend other restaurants if you want to have a proper meal. If you want to experience quick and affordable Korean dish, you will like Woorijip.

  • 🔥 Her Name is Han – A trendy Korean restaurant that brings a homestyle twist to classics like galbi and soondubu. I highly recommend this restaurant, it was super tasty and you won’t regret visiting here

We also spent time wandering through Chinatown, soaking in the energy, popping into bakeries, and picking up some snacks for later. The mix of cultures, smells, and textures never gets old—there’s always something new to discover.

If you’re a fan of bold flavors and international eats, NYC never fails. More details on our hotel and travel tips coming soon!
