A Taste of Luxury: Singapore Airlines First-Class Dining Experience from Narita, Japan to the LAX United States

If you’ve ever dreamed of experiencing world-class dining at 40,000 feet, then Singapore Airlines’ first-class service is a must-try. We recently had the privilege of flying from Narita, Japan to the United States aboard their luxurious first-class cabin, and we’re excited to share every delicious detail of our experience—from pre-flight meal selections to the exquisite in-flight dishes.

Pre-Flight Meal Selection: Customizing Our Experience

One of the perks of flying first-class with Singapore Airlines is the ability to choose your meals in advance using their Book to Cook service. As soon as we booked our tickets, we browsed the menu and selected a few dishes we were most excited to try. The full inflight menu was packed with delicious options, ranging from appetizers to desserts that looked as exquisite as they were appetizing.

The Singapore Airlines menu included a wide variety of options, which allowed us to customize our meal choices based on our preferences. If you’re looking to elevate your flight experience, this is the way to go. Whether you’re a fan of seafood, meat dishes, or vegetarian cuisine, there’s something for everyone.

Champagne to Toast Our Journey

Once we settled into our spacious and comfortable first-class seats, we were greeted with the option of champagne. Though we’re not champagne connoisseurs, both options were surprisingly smooth and rich. The champagne I selected was valued at around $200, while Vinny’s was even more extravagant, priced at approximately $300.

While we may not be able to differentiate between all the fine champagne varieties, we can certainly say that both were a treat to sip while we settled in for our long journey. It’s the kind of touch that sets the tone for the indulgent experience that follows.

The Famous Singapore Chicken Saté: A Delicacy in the Sky

After takeoff, we were served one of the most iconic dishes in Singapore Airlines’ first-class offering: the famous Singapore chicken saté. Tender chicken skewers were served with a rich and flavorful peanut sauce that truly stood out. Although it couldn’t quite compare to the saté we had at the Singapore Lounge, the version we had onboard was certainly delicious and a great start to our meal.

We recommend trying it if you ever have the opportunity—especially at the 40,000-foot mark!

Bread Selection and Scallop Appetizer: A True Indulgence

As the meal service continued, we were offered a selection of freshly baked bread. I chose a garlic bread roll that was warm, soft, and absolutely divine. The smell alone was enough to make my mouth water.

Next came our appetizers, and I was treated to a beautifully presented scallop dish, which was a delightful surprise. The scallops were fresh, perfectly cooked, and complemented by a delicate sauce. The dish’s presentation was as refined as any five-star restaurant, making it clear that Singapore Airlines takes pride in every detail.

A Soothing Soup Course

To balance out the rich flavors of the appetizer, the meal was followed by a vegetable soup with ravioli-like filling. Although I wasn’t a huge fan of the ravioli’s texture, the soup itself was soothing and comforting, perfect for the long flight ahead.

Main Course: Lobster That Surprised

When it was time for the main course, I opted for the lobster dish, served with vegetables and potatoes. The lobster was succulent, and the presentation was impeccable. Compared to my previous experience on a flight where the food left a lot to be desired, this lobster was cooked to perfection. It was hands down one of the best meals I’ve ever had in the air.

On a previous flight (2023 from LAX to NRT), I had been disappointed by soggy noodles, but this time, every dish came out exactly as it should—fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared.

Vinnie’s Choices: Caviar and Grilled Miso-Marinated Cod

Vinny had a slightly different menu. For his appetizer, he chose caviar, which was served with traditional condiments. While he’s not a huge caviar fan, he still enjoyed the experience and ate it all.

For his main dish, Vinny chose the grilled miso-marinated black cod, served with seasonal vegetables and steamed rice. While he described the fish as a bit on the “fishy” side, he still found it enjoyable.

The Sweet Endings: Desserts Worth Indulging In

No luxury meal is complete without dessert, and Singapore Airlines delivered in style. For dessert, we had the tiramisu, which was fantastic. As if that wasn’t enough, the green tea Mont Blanc was a deliciously delicate dessert that we couldn’t resist. The presentation was breathtaking, making it almost too beautiful to eat.

After indulging in both desserts, we found ourselves heading to Vinny’s area to enjoy yet another sweet treat—the Mont Blanc with ice cream. This dessert, paired with a syrup that complemented the flavors, was an absolute treat.

From start to finish, Singapore Airlines’ first-class dining was nothing short of spectacular. The meal presentation was impeccable, the flavors were spot on, and the level of service made the entire experience feel exclusive. If you’re debating whether to fly first-class from the United States or Asia, we recommend starting in Asia. This gives you the opportunity to savor local dishes and elevate your experience right from the start.

This flight was a completely different experience from when we flew from the U.S. to Japan, where the food didn’t leave much of an impression. But flying from Japan to the U.S. offered a true feast for the senses. Whether it was the lobster or the Singapore chicken saté, we were thrilled by every bite.

We hope our experience helps with your travel planning. If you’re looking to indulge in one of the most memorable in-flight meals, make sure to book your next adventure with Singapore Airlines!
