What would you do if you have 36 Hours in Japan? This is what we did in short period time! We have a full agenda below and if you prefer watching a video, here is a video for you
⛩️ Our 36 Hours Japan Asakusa Itinerary
⛩️ Where to Stay?
We stayed at THE GATE HOTEL Asakusa Kaminarimon and highly recommend it. We paid around $106 per night, which was a great value for a 4-star hotel in Tokyo. The room was surprisingly spacious by Tokyo standards. The location is also fantastic — within walking distance to Senso-ji Temple, Kimono Tea Ceremony and Sweets Making at Maikoya Tokyo, Asakusa, and many other attractions in Asakusa.
⛩️ Highlights
Amazing sushi!
We personally love this revolving sushi place Hinatomaru Asakusa. For 2 of us, we spent $37 USD for 9 plates. Compared to other Tokyo sushi place we went, this place was pretty good.
Tea Ceremony and Dessert Making!
We truly enjoyed the Kimono Tea Ceremony and Sweets Making at Maikoya Tokyo, Asakusa | Kimono Rental in Japan. They teach you about the history of the tea, how to drink it properly, and how to make a traditional Japanese dessert. It was super fun! To learn more, make sure to check out our YouTube video — we explain what to expect and share some helpful tips.
Must try Gyukatsu in Asakusa
Near Senso-ji Temple, there’s a spot called Asakusa Gyukatsu — and it’s also less than a 5-minute walk from our hotel. Every time we passed by, there was always a line, so we decided to give it a try… and it was absolutely amazing. We highly recommend going early. You could visit the temple around 7 AM and then grab an early lunch here right after.
Have a safe travels!
